Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island resort to open in new Yas Bay development in 2019

Hilton Worldwide has announced that the new Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island Resort will be part of a new development on the southern end of Yas Island. The project, which is being developed by Miral, is set in the three-kilometre stretch Yas Bay which looks set to become one of the emirate’s most vibrant new waterfront destinations, and the hotel is scheduled to open in 2019.

Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island receives Conde Nast Award

Conde Nast Traveller magazine has recognised the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island as one of the best hotels in the Africa and the Middle East. The luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi was named in the Condé Nast Traveller Hot List 2017, which highlights the favourite properties around the world that have opened to guests over the past 12 months.

Abu Dhabi sees 1.6 million visitors

Abu Dhabi welcomed almost 1.6 million visitors in the first quarter of 2017, a 7 per cent increase over the same period in 2016. Additionally, April of this year also saw an increase of 15 per cent in hotel guest arrivals. The city is hosting numerous festivals and cultural programmes throughout the year, and hotels and attractions will offer promotions in a bid to encourage tourism for the remainder of the year.

New Jannah Residence from Jannah Hotels and Resorts has opened in Abu Dhabi

Jannah Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of the new Jannah Residence on Al Zahiyah in Abu Dhabi. The new hotel has nine storeys and offers long stays for travellers in its 36 two-bedroom apartments. The furnished residences offer modern amenities including wireless internet, signature Jannah Spa beds, fully equipped kitchens, and the services of experienced Karims.

New hotels, residences and shopping malls planned for Yas Island and Reem Island in Abu Dhabi

Aldar Properties has announced it is planning to launch four new developments on Yas Island and Reem Islands in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The company is looking to invest Dh1.9 billion into a 279-room four-star hotel with 70 serviced apartments and a retail park on Yas Island, a four-star hotel and 600 mid-market residences in the Shams district on Reem Island.

Etihad Airways encourages transit travellers to stay in Abu Dhabi with launch of 48 Hour Challenge

Etihad Airways has launched a new campaign to encourage transit travellers to spend more time in Abu Dhabi. The ‘48 Hour Challenge’ is aimed at travellers visiting the emirate for a stopover between destinations and UAE residents planning short break “staycations”. The airline launched the promotion with a video of Ricky Wilson, the frontman of the rock band Kaiser Chiefs, who recently spend 48 hours in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi International Airport records rise in passengers in January

Abu Dhabi International Airport recorded an increase in passengers in January, 2017 with more than 2.2 million international visitors passing through the facility in the United Arab Emirates. The airport traffic figures were up by 2.6 per cent compared to the same month in 2016, and the majority of passengers originated from India and the United Kingdom.

Marriott Hotel Al Forsan to open to guests in Abu Dhabi in February

Marriott International will launch its second Marriott-branded hotel in Abu Dhabi next week. The Marriott Hotel Al Forsan will open its doors this February, 2017, and will cater for families and corporate groups. The new hotel has 400 guest rooms and suites, plus facilities including several restaurants with outside terraces, a 50-metre swimming pool with Splash bar, a kids area, a fitness centre, and a spa.

Abu Dhabi continues to see increase in guest arrivals

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture announced that the country saw an eight per cent increase in tourists in 2016. Nearly 4.5 million tourists checked into Abu Dhabi hotels last year, a significant increase over the prior year. Among international visitors to Abu Dhabi, the UK contributed the third largest number of guests.

Abu Dhabi to build first SeaWorld attraction outside of United States

Abu Dhabi is planning to build a brand new SeaWorld theme park that will focus on engaging, educating and inspiring visitors. The marine life theme park will be the first centre in the United Arab Emirates dedicates to marine research, conservation, rescue and rehabilitation. There will be a huge aquarium, attractions, facilities, and it will be the first new SeaWorld without Orca whales.
