Getting Around

Cyprus is compact and so getting around the island is relatively easy. Hiring a car offers the freedom to explore, especially if you want to discover areas of Cyprus that are a little out of the way, where public transport is more limited.

Bus services in the south of the island are frequent, clean and comfortable, and provide a cheap way of exploring the island. Rural buses may be more unreliable. There are often no services on Sundays.

Roads are good, and well signposted, but they’re slightly better in the south. Driving is on the left hand side of the road.

Hit the Beach

Whether you're looking for somewhere young and lively or family friendly – you won't be short of sunbathing spots.

CTO beach is best for family holidays thanks to its shallow waters, soft sand and entertainment facilities including a children's playground and watersports.

If you're after an all-rounder, Finikoudes has a variety of waterfront restaurants and bars, golden sands and is just a stone's throw away from the lively town.

Mackenzie is buzzing with trendy cafés and bars blaring the latest hits, Miami-inspired canopy beds and DJs playing to the crowds from the waterfront decks.

Beaches Galore

Cyprus, and Paphos, have hundreds of amazing beaches and bays to explore.

Grab your flippers and a snorkel and discover the underwater world solo or take a snorkelling boat excursion along the coastline.

There are even a few companies on the island who offer underwater helmets so you can go for a stroll along the floor of the Med, feeding fish and spotting coral as you go. A good compromise for those who aren't ready for the full scuba diving experience.

Cyprus is a beach babe's paradise! Alykes Beach, also known as Sopab Beach, is a popular spot for families and is fringed by the Deck Cafe & Bar and the Alexander the Great hotel.

Other fantastic beaches include the Petra Tou Romiou, famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, the laid-back Pissouri Bay or the Blue Flag-awarded Coral Bay.
