Nickelodeon's Undersea Resort coming to Southeast Asia

A remarkable underwater Nickolodeon-themed resort is in the works. Viacom recently announced that the new resort, located on Palawan Island, will feature underwater accommodations and attractions, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The resort will be the second Nickolodeon-themed resort in Asia.

Alain St. Ange resigns as Minister of Tourism and Culture for Seychelles

The Minister of Tourism and Culture for the Seychelles, Alain St. Ange, has stepped down from his role after four years in the post. Mr St. Ange is said to be applying for the role of secretary general of the World Tourism Organisation, and elections will start this year. Maurice Loustau-Lalanne has been appointed as the minister of tourism, civil aviation, ports and marine for the Seychelles.

The Seychelles hailed as the world’s leading honeymoon destination

The Seychelles has dethroned four-time winner Mauritius as the world’s leading honeymoon destination at the 2016 World Travel Awards. The Indian Ocean destination was presented with the accolade at the recently held grand final ceremony that took place in the Maldives with 250 global hospitality leaders in attendance.

Hilton brings Indian Ocean sunshine to The Holiday Place

Opening of Six Senses Zil Pasyon marks hotel group's entry into the Seychelles

Six Senses Zil Pasyon has opened its doors to holidaymakers in the Seychelles. Located on the private island of Felicite, the luxury resort has 28 one and two-bedroom pool villas, and facilities including several restaurants with al fresco settings, an infinity swimming pool, a fitness centre, a cinema, a library, a kids club, and the Experience Centre with water sports. The Six Senses Spa will be launched in January, and temporary spa is in place until then.

Joint efforts to manage the new Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island

Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts has announced it will manage the resort on the island of Desroches in the Seychelles. In an agreement with Desroches Island Developments, the global hotel group will manage the beautiful island's only resort, and will reopen it as Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island in 2017, with 40 beach suites and 11 private residence villas.

Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation donates $1 million to Seychelles Marine Sanctuary

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is a well-known activist for marine conservation, and his charitable foundation has recently donated $1 million for a marine sanctuary in the Seychelles. The donation from the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) will go towards the protection of 154 square miles of the island nation's surrounding seas and marine creatures.

The United Nations World Travel Organisation (UNWTO) has released new data that reveals the top ten destinations in the world that experienced a significant boom in tourism during the first nine months of 2015. Among the list of the top ten countries were the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, Thailand, Iceland, Japan, and Chile and Panama in Latin America.
