The warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean are abundant with sea life, including a large variety of big game fish in the deeper waters. The beautiful volcanic island of Mauritius is an angler's paradise, and depending on the time of year you visit, you are likely to catch marlins, yellow-fin tuna, wahoo, sailfish, blue and black marlins, bonito, swordfish, barracuda and even shark species such as hammerhead, mako and tiger. Visitors can enjoy deep sea fishing throughout the year, although the best season runs from October to April.

Aside from the fishing, this tour is an exciting boat ride in itself. Marvel at views of Mauritius’ rural East coastline, which remains relatively untouched by mass tourism. Sail past sleepy fishing villages, deserted islets and some of the island’s most beautiful beaches. Inland, you will see vegetable gardens, emerald green sugar cane fields and tropical forests slope gently up towards mountainous peaks. Veranda Resorts' Tamarin Hotel temporarily closes for renovation project

Veranda Resorts has announced that the Tamarin Hotel in Tamarin Bay in Mauritius has closed for refurbishments for six months. The hotel, which was built in 1970, will undergo an extensive renovation programme, and it will reopen in October. The luxury property will be renamed as the Veranda Tamarin Hotel & Spa, and it will have additional guest rooms.

Mauritius Tourism Authority welcomes increase in travellers from UK between January and March

The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority has revealed that the island nation received an increase in UK travellers in the first quarter of 2018. Between January and March, the country recorded a nine percent increase in tourists from the UK. The growth is said to have been helped by the refurbishment of many of the island’s services and products including hotels and attractions.
