Blue Safari Sub Scooter

Duration: Half Day

blue safari sub scooter

Situated in the Indian Ocean, the beautiful volcanic island of Mauritius is blessed with beautiful beaches and shallow turquoise lagoons, making it a paradise destination for snorkelers. If you are eager to explore the underwater treasures here, why not do something a bit different during your holiday in Mauritius. Embark on a Blue Safari Sub-Scooter adventure, which claims to be the world’s only underwater ‘sub-scooter safari’, and enjoy a unique experience you will never forget.

Mauritius offers a breathtaking undersea world just waiting to be explored, and the two-seater Sub-Scooter is an ideal way to do just that. Sitting comfortably, one behind the other, your head and shoulders are enclosed inside a transparent bubble, whilst the rest of your body is submerged in the water. You are able to breathe freely without the need of a mouth regulator because the cupola is regularly pumped with air. This enables you to chat with your fellow driver and enjoy panoramic views of the breathtaking underwater world around you.

The experience is ideal for non-swimmers and for those who have never scuba-dived before. Riding the Sub-Scooter is similar to riding a scooter on land, except there are no wheels and you travel through the water instead. The sub-scooters have an engine, steering wheel and accelerator pedal, and each sub-scooter is attached to a buoyancy weight system on the surface, which is controlled by safety divers so your location is visible at all times. The maximum speed you can travel at is four knots.

After being equipped with a diving suit and listening to a short safety briefing, your 30-minute adventure begins by being lowered slowly into the sea on a hydraulic platform. Once in the water, you will be accompanied three meters down under the surface of the sea by your experienced guide, who will be with you for the duration of the tour to make sure you go in the right direction and assist you if needed.

Marvel at the treasures of the Indian Ocean as you ride past spectacular coral reefs and a mysterious 17th century shipwreck, and swim amongst a multitude of brightly-coloured tropical fish of all shapes and sizes. Look out for underwater flora and exciting marine species on the way, including green turtles, cuttlefish, octopus, starfish and many more. The beauty and diversity of Mauritius’ warm tropical waters will amaze and delight you. This unforgettable tour is great fun for families with children over the age of 12 and will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your holiday in Mauritius.
