North Ari Atoll
The Ari Atoll is the westernmost atoll of the Maldives. It is 48 miles long and 17 miles wide and contains 50 islands that lie mainly along its eastern fringe. Only 18 islands are inhabited, the rest lie unexploited and untouched in all their pristine beauty. A 25-minute seaplane flight from Malé soars over the turquoise Indian Ocean bringing you to the atoll. It is easy to forget that the Ari Atoll is one of the most highly developed tourist areas in the Maldives, as the resorts are widely dispersed. An ideal location for dive enthusiasts, the atoll offers protected reefs, superb visibility and an abundance of marine life. Divers can see coral gardens, schools of fish and sea turtles in the atolls many channels and reefs. This area of startling natural beauty is one of the Maldives more popular destinations.
