One of the latest of hotels to open in Old Havana, here history and chic modern design come together in a building that dates back to the end of the 18th century when it belonged to Don Sebastián de Peñalver. Some time after, at the beginning of the 19th century the property changed hands to the successors of the IV the Marquees of San Felipe and Santiago, who made this their home. Now completely remodelled for the comfort of its guests, this majestic mansion's minimalistic interior blends perfectly with the baroque style of its façade.
Benefitting from a privileged location right on the famed San Francisco de Asis Square, home to one of Havana’s best concert halls; within close proximity to the hotel guests will find many attractions including the Carmen Montilla gallery, the elegant Café del Oriente, the business centre of Old Havana (Lonja del Comercio), the popular Museum of Chocolate and the Cuban Contemporary Ceramics Museum. From the hotel's 6th floor rooftop terrace, visitors can use a telescope to take in the splendour of Old Havana. The San Francisco de Asis square, with it’s many pigeons and charming Lions Fountain, also treasures the statue of El Caballero de Paris, one of Havana’s most beloved characters.
A bit damp and rooms quite dark but loved staying here. Super position for walking around the best bits of the old town. Am glad this was our first hotel in Cuba as it was very personal and welcoming.

Dating back to 1927, the Xanadu Mansion is steeped in history. Originally belonging to French American millionaire Irenee Dupont de Nemours, the property is now surrounded by lush gardens and a golf course. There are magnificent views of the ocean from all sides of the house, and the 1930s decor still remains to give a quaint feel to the place. Each room is so unique it has its own name!
loved it would go again
