Day 1: Arrive in Ubud
After landing in Bali, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in the centre of Bali with the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Ubud Art & Culture tour
Referred to as Bali’s cultural soul, the charming town of Ubud is famed for its lush tropical forests, picturesque rice terraces and vibrant cultural heritage.
Today you can enjoy a taste of what Ubud has to offer beginning with a visit to the Neka Art Museum. Housed in buildings inspired by traditional Balinese architecture, you can explore the collection of art on display inspired by the stunning natural beauty, life and culture of the ‘Island of the Gods’. Also on display it’s a collection of traditional ‘keris’, beautifully crafted daggers that are recognised by UNESCO for their cultural importance in Indonesia.
Continue your tour with a walk through central Ubud, passing the local bustling local markets and onto Ubud Palace. The local royal family still reside in the palace but you are free to wander around the majority of this impressive compound where you can learn of the area’s vibrant history and the Asta Kosala Kosali tradition of house building.
Finish the day exploring the range of markets and boutiques in the centre of the town.
Overnight in Ubud
Day 3: Kintami & Monkey Forest
Today is a busy day filled with exploring, starting with a fascinating performance of Barong Dance. In local mythology, Barong is the King of the Spirits and the unique dance depicts the eternal struggle between good and evil as he defeats the demon queen Rangda.
Continue on to explore Ubud’s surrounding area with your first stop at the village of Mas, renowned for its intricate wood carving and masks. Carry on to the village of Celuk, an artisan village famous for its intricate silver work and goldsmiths before finishing the tour in Tohpati, where the batik fabrics that Bali are famous for are created using traditional techniques.
Carry on to Gunung Kawi, a unique Hindu temple complex in the north-east of Ubud which is made up of ten intricately rock-cut shrines in the cliff face. Take time to explore the surrounding countryside with its lush tropical flora and terraced rice fields.
The next stop is the village of Kintamani. Offering unbeatable views (weather permitting) of Mount Batur, the charming village sits on the caldera rim of the active volcano. Enjoy a delicious lunch served in a local restaurant whilst you take in the incredible views around you.
On your return back to Ubud, stop at Goa, Gajah, referred to as the ‘Elephant Cave’ that was used as a sanctuary in the 9th century for Buddhist monks.
The final stop of the day is at the sacred Ubud Monkey Forest, a tropical nature reserve and temple complex home to more than one hundred species of tree and hundreds of crab eating macaque monkeys. Be warned that these little mammals can be cheeky and annoying, please follow any advice from your guide on the precautions you should take when visiting.

Day 4: Travel onto Candidasa
Today you leave Ubud behind for another busy day en-route to Candidasa. Take in the stunning landscapes and charming villages as you head for the first stop of the day, Subak Guliang, a traditional farming village and compound in the heart of the island. Awaiting you when you arrive is warm welcome from the locals as well as delicious traditional breakfast in one of the unique Balinese homes based on the Asta Kosala Kosali tradition of house building.
The rest of your time in the village allows you to explore the stunning natural beauty of the area as well as learning about local Balinese life.
Carry onto Pura Kehan, considered to be the most beautiful on the island, the 11th century temple complex is shrouded in local legend, guarded by a mythical dragon.
Continue on to Penglipuran, a charming hill village surrounded by plantations and bamboo forest where strict rules and regulations (known as Adat) created by ancient ancestors, are still upheld.
Return to your vehicle and end the day at your hotel in Candidasa

Day 5: Tirta Gangga and Tenganan
Start the day by visiting the ancient village of Tenganan said to be one of the oldest villages on the island and home to the original inhabitants of Bali. Wander through the village and learn of their traditional culture as well as taking in the stunning beauty.
Carry on to Tirta Gangga, the formal royal palace in eastern Bali. The Royal Palace is in fact a water palace, made up on a maze of pools and tranquil fountains surrounded by lush gardens and stone carvings. Take time to sit and admire the beautiful surroundings that were built in 1946 by the late King of Karangsem but later re-built after a volcanic eruption in 1963.
Finally, finish the day with a trip to Tirta Gangga’s sister site, Taman Ujung ‘water palace’. Another idyllic location to sit and relax, the complex consists of an array of tranquil pools and historic structures set against a backdrop of Mount Agung.
Overnight in Candidasa
Day 6: Goa Lawah and Kertagosa
The first stop of the day is the impressive Goa Lawah, otherwise known as the ‘Bat Cave’ due to the fact that the Baliense Hindu temple is home to hordes of bats inside.
Carry on to Klungkung Palace, officially known as Puri Agung Semarapura. The Kertagosa Pavilion offers an excellent example of traditional Balinese architecture and was once the Hall of Justice. Amongst the artefacts on display, you can find Kamasan paintings depicting the famous Hindu legends. Once you’ve had a look around, it’s time to transfer for your next hotel.
Overnight in Sanur
Day 7: Sunset over Uluwatu with Kecak Dance
On your final full day on the island, head for the southern-most tip of Bali to visit the Uluwatu Temple. The famous temple is one of the seven sacred sea temples, said to protect the island whilst also offering incredible and dramatic views from its clifftop location overlooking the ocean.
A highlight of the trip is the opportunity to witness the traditional Kecak dance, regularly performed at Uluwatu that is based on an ancient Hindu story from the Ramayana.
For your final evening, enjoy an evening at one of Jimbaran Bay’s best Beach Clubs for a delicious seafood buffet as you look out towards the stunning ocean landscape.
*Please note there are macaque monkeys at Uluwatu Temple and they can be a considerable annoyance. Please heed the advice from your guide on the precautions you should take when visiting the temples or forests inhabited by monkeys.

Day 8: Departure Day
Enjoy a morning at leisure before it is time to transfer from your hotel to Denpasar airport.
