The western tip of Tobago is known as the ‘Lowlands’, this area is home to many of Tobago’s major attractions and the international airport. The long relatively deserted beaches of the Lowlands are superb for relaxing and rejuvenating or enjoying long breezy strolls along the sand. The beautiful beach at Pigeon Point is an ideal Caribbean setting with soft wide sand and calm waters. From Pigeon Point you can take a glass-bottomed boat cruise to Buccoo Reef for snorkelling or enjoy a swim at Nylon Pool in the middle of the lagoon. There are some fine dive sites where you can see rays, reef sharks, turtles and a wide array of tropical fish. The Lowlands offer a wide range of bars, restaurants and local shops. Petit Trou has championship golf course, marina, yacht club and a good choice of shops and entertainment facilities.
Other attractions of the Lowlands include art galleries, markets, historic forts, and museums. Small fishing villages dot the coastline and small islands are scattered just off shore. For modern-day castaways the Lowlands og Tobago offer the perfect blend of attractions and seclusion for an idyllic holiday in paradise.
