Situated on the stunning Mexican Caribbean Coast, the Mayan Riviera (or Riviera Maya) is one of Mexico’s most popular tourist spots. This beautiful stretch of coastline runs along part of the Yucatan Peninsula between Cancun and Tulum, and is renowned for its pristine white sandy beaches, vibrant coral reefs and crystal clear turquoise waters, which are rich in marine life. The strong current from the Gulf of Mexico brings in a wide variety of fish and the reliable Mexican Caribbean weather ensures good fishing conditions all year round.

A catch is virtually guaranteed as the warm tropical waters provide the perfect hunting ground for Barracuda, Grouper, Bonita, Red Snapper, Amberjack, King Mackerel and Wahoo year round, whilst big game fish such as Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna and Dorado are abundant from March to June. Billfish (sailfish and marlin) are caught and then released to avoid depleting the local fish stocks, but you can still have your photo taken with your prize catch beforehand to show off back home.

The Puerto Aventuras resort is built around an impressive marina, which is surrounded by restaurants and shops and home to dozens of luxury yachts, sport fishing boats and sailboats of all shapes and sizes. Here you will discover Riviera Maya fishing at its best. The Mayan people have been fishing these waters for centuries and still do, along with sport fishermen from around the world.

Eight new hotels planned for construction in Quintana Roo, Mexico in 2017

The Tourism Secretary of Quintana Roo, Marisol Vanegas Perez, revealed at the recent XV National Tourism Forum, that the construction of eight new hotels in the region is planned for the half of 2017. Riviera Maya authorities to work with Secretariat of Ecology and Environment to prevent coastal erosion

Several popular coastal areas in the Riviera Maya in Mexico are to undergo recovery and restoration work to counteract coastal erosion before the annual influx of spring breakers. The state Secretariat of Ecology and Environment says that public beaches in five municipalities will need to be addressed, and officials are holding meetings with local hotel associations, local authorities, and sand dunes and reef restoration experts to discuss how they can keep the sand areas stable.
