Cozumel Day Trip (sightseeing)

Duration: Half Day

cozumel day trip (sightseeing)

A fabulous escapade to one of Mexico’s largest islands; one that is also among the most idyllic places for snorkelling and scuba diving. Spend a day in paradise with this ultimate island break!  With this full day trip to Cozumel’s shores you’ll be discovering new horizons and having a day of extreme relaxation under this peculiar island’s ever-shining sun. Come along for a day of pure escapism and tranquil entertainment where you’ll be indulging in some shopping and engaging in gentle snorkelling at 2 specially selected locations.

Our trip begins at Playa del Carmen, from where you’ll be taking the ferry that connects to Cozumel. During this 25-45 minutes ride (depending on water conditions and passenger load) you’ll have the chance to enjoy some refreshments as you prepare for the fabulous day ahead.

Once at Cozumel you will be taken on a tour around the island’s breathtaking beaches with 2 stops at the best locations for snorkelling. You’ll find that some of the best snorkelling can be found very close to the shore, right at the edges of the ragged iron-shore that borders a great part of Cozumel’s dazzling southern coast.
Y
ou will be able to discover first-hand the reason why Cozumel’s fabulous reef system has been a magnet for scuba divers all around the world since the 50’s when the Jacque Cousteau documentaries brought worldwide attention to this incredibly rich underwater world.

During your snorkelling experience here expect to see abundant coral formations and an amazing plant life blooming in all its splendour, as well as a great variety of brightly coloured tropical fish. Watch schools of yellow and black striped sergeant fish pass you by and graciously flit through coral. Among the usual dwellers of these shores and the wonderful sea creatures that you will be able to spot are: angel fish, groupers and rainbow-coloured parrot fish that glide lazily amongst lacy sea fans and whips. And if this is your lucky day you might even get a glimpse of a barracuda, a yellow ray or even a sea turtle!

This unique day trip at Cozumel will also include a fabulous shopping experience as we take you to best retail venues in the island.  We head downtown to give you the opportunity to enjoy some free time shopping around Cozumel’s best stores. Good buys include Yucatan hammocks, leather goods, silver jewellery, ceramics and decorative metalwork as well as embroidered and lace clothing, table linens and carved woods. In the many good shops around you will also find high-quality handicraft and art from all over Mexico.

Downtown Cozumel simply has everything you could imagine; from high-toned waterfront jewellery stores like Van Cleef & Arpels to little hotels in the wall crammed with hand-painted batik hangings, papier maché animals and masterfully crafted carved wood items. And if you venture your way up into the backstreets of downtown you’ll find unique one-of-a-kind items which the vendors are willing to bargain. So during your time here you´ll be able to engage in the lively sport of haggling in order to take home great items and souvenirs at the best prices.

This lively full day excursion at Cozumel will include a delicious lunch at a local restaurant as well as drinks and refreshments provided on board. At the end of your day you´ll be taken back to Playa del Carmen by ferry as you ponder about the day´s activities during this marine ride.
