Chikin-ha Eco-expedition-adventure

Duration: Half Day

chikin-ha eco-expedition-adventure

The Yucatan is known for its stunning and the wonderful crystal clear sparkling waters. In the jungle near to the ancient city of Tulum lie two of the longest under water cave systems known on the planet. Creatures that have not been sighted anywhere else on the earth have been discovered in these caves. Chikin-Ha is only 5km south of Puerto Aventuras. The Chikin-Ha eco-expedition is a unique opportunity to explore both the jungle and the caves in Mexico.

The adventure begins with an easy bike journey in the jungle. Enjoy the scenery of the farmlands of Don Silvano while you ride. After an exhilarating ride get ready for swimming and snorkelling in not one but three cenotes. A cenote is a fresh water pool basically formed as a round hole in the ground. Learn about the geological formation and the scientific study of cenotes; the different types and how they have been explored.  At the first cenote visit you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the emerald green water. Snorkel or float on large luxurious tubes.

The second visit is to a cenote that is shaped like a cavern tunnel. It is large inside and contains more incredible geological formations like the magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. Snorkel in the aquamarine water from one side of the tunnel to the other. After exiting from the second cenote a brief walk on a footpath through the jungle will lead you to the last cenote visit for more good fun. The third cenote is huge and egg shaped with lovely clear blue water and you will have the additional benefit of observing a traditional Mayan purification ritual. Learn about the religious and cultural significance of cenotes to the Mayan people.

Ok so you have been on the ground, did some exploration underground so what next? The air of course! The final phase of the expedition takes you flying through the jungle on a zip line. The zip line is a three part route over the three cenotes that you would have just visited, now how great is that! The first route is 60 meters long over the first cenote, here you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the sky.

The second route occur across the jungle to the second cenote it is another 60 meters long however this trip is faster than the first adding to the thrill of the experience and the third route is just mind blowing. It begins from a 17m tower and takes off over the forest canopy and is about 160 meters long. Truly an amazing ride offering a bird’s eye view of the jungle.

Rest in a beautiful area; a sumptuous meal and refreshing drinks will be provided. This tour combines many activities so it requires physical ability. Bike, walk, swim, snorkel, fly and then feast after a fun day of memorable experiences.
