Paraiso Xel Ha

Duration: Half Day

paraiso xel ha

Xel Ha is yet another biological paradise of the Riviera Maya. Xel Ha is Mayan for “Where the Waters are Born”. The legend has it that the Mayan Gods gave Xel Ha to the mortals and the place is guarded by the symbols of the Parrot Fish and Iguana which represent wisdom, illusion and love. This park is not only a place of unique natural beauty but it also holds cultural and religious significance as well.

Get to know more about this natural park’s surrounding nature, history and legends and do it all with our fantastic Xel Ha excursion. The park is inhabited by an array of birds, fish and other lively wildlife. This incredible place is home to more than 100 species of birds, about 100 marine species and approximately 350 plant species.

A tropical park filled with unimaginable beauty… the radiant turquoise lagoon, the calm river and a vibrant jungle comprise the wonderful landscape at Xel Ha. The waters of Xel Ha are a blend of freshwater from the underground rivers and the salt water from the Caribbean Sea making this the place to share in celebrating the unique combination of jungle and sea.

Be amazed by the incredible sight of tree roots that stretch underwater forming intricate knots along the sides of the river and the lagoon as it creates a maze of cosy hiding places where several species of colourful fish dart in and out. Snorkel equipment will be provided so get your gear and set off to explore this wonder.

Xel Ha is often described as an open sea aquarium and offers a myriad of both water and land activities. Towels and lockers will be provided. Whether you wish to swim or snorkel through the lagoon and river or float on the water in rubber tubes (life jackets are available) you can be sure you won’t be short of entertaining activities to take part in. There is also swimming with dolphins at an additional cost.

On land you can sunbathe, take a stroll on beautiful long stretches of white sand beaches, explore the jungle; discover, see iguanas and macaws as butterflies gently flutter around. The elegant macaws are an attraction that is hard to miss; these noisy creatures are delightful and very used to being around humans.

At Xel Ha there are programmes to protect and preserve the environment and Mayan culture traditions. In the Xel Ha archaeological park there is also an intriguing collection of Mayan ruins. Find meals and refreshments at any of the five world class restaurants in the park.

The tour includes:
• Round trip transportation at air conditioning bus
• Bilingual guided services
• All meals and drinks in the 5 restaurants of the park
• Snorkel equipment
• Life Jackets
• Towels and Family lockers

Not included: Swimming with dolphins.
