Departing from Montego Bay, we will drive into Jamaica’s majestic mountainous countryside to appreciate the island’s exquisite natural beauty inland. Spectacular waterfalls, lazy rivers, lush green hills and vibrant wild flowers are just some of the scenery highlights that will undoubtedly captivate you on the journey. Wildlife is also abundant here so look out for exotic animals, birds and butterflies, many of which are endemic to the island.

Passing important historical landmarks on the way, your knowledgeable local guide will reveal facts, stories and legends of the island which will keep you entertained as you learn about the deep-rooted history of the country.

Taking you back in time, you will hear about the island’s first inhabitants, the Arawak Indians, who came to Jamaica from Venezuela. These indigenous tribes were eradicated after Christopher Columbus claimed the land for Spain in the late 15th century, and Jamaica was colonised. The island was conquered by the British in 1655, who later captured and forced Africans into the slave trade to work on sugar plantations during the 18th and 19th centuries. Covering war, greed, revolution and finally freedom, Jamaica’s turbulent past tells a colourful story.

Moving onwards, you will see how Jamaicans grow their food on vast plantations, some of which have a long history. Taste exotic Caribbean fruits and learn about the traditional herbal remedies that have been used here and around the world for centuries. You can then enjoy a delicious lunch fit for a king before we visit a local school to meet the children. You will be warmly welcomed on arrival, after which you can sit back and enjoy the show as they entertain you will folklore stories and songs.

This tour offers one of the best opportunities to appreciate Jamaica’s rich heritage and cultural diversity on an unforgettable journey of discovery.
