Caribbean Sunset Cruise

Duration: Half Day

caribbean sunset cruise

Spend a romantic evening enjoying an unforgettable sunset cruise on your holiday in Grenada, which is a wonderful way to enjoy the beauty of the Caribbean coastline. This captivating cruise you will take you sailing out onto the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea on a beautiful catamaran, where you can leave your cares behind you and soak up the magic of the evening. You may even be lucky enough to see the famous “green flash” as the sun goes down.

Catamarans are the ideal vessels for sailing the waters of the Caribbean, providing comfort, safety, shade and spacious seating. Once onboard, relax on the deck with drinks and snacks as you sail along the picturesque west coast, taking in the breathtaking scenery all around you. Listen to soothing music in between the sounds of the billowing sails and rushing waves as we glide onwards in the glow of the setting sun.

A Caribbean sunset is a spectacular sight to behold. As the sun goes down, keep your eyes open and prepare for an amazing natural phenomenon − the famous “Green Flash”. This momentary burst of dazzling green light occurs during the first glimpse of a rising dun or the final glimpse of a setting sun. During this time, the sun’s light is refracted at extreme angles against the curve of the earth, causing its colour spectrum to gradually change from red or orange to yellow and blue, and then a brief flash of green just as it dips below the earth's surface. Flashes of blue light have also been reported, but this only occurs if the atmosphere is unusually clear. This is a rare and unique experience, seldom witnessed in the Caribbean or anywhere else in the world due to the unique atmospheric conditions. The flash only lasts for a second or two, so make sure you don’t blink or you’ll miss it! If the scientific explanation confuses you, you may prefer the romantic version of this unique phenomenon, which explains the green flash as the sun kissing the ocean goodnight.

Your friendly captain and crew will go out of their way to make sure that you have an exciting and memorable evening during your cruise, so sit back and savour the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean. The romance, magic and memories of this sunset cruise will stay with you long after your Caribbean holiday ends.
