Bayahibe is situated on the southeast Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic. This tiny fishing and diving village has a picturesque harbour filled with catamarans and wonderfully coloured fishing boats surrounded by vibrant green countryside that hugs the fine white sandy beaches. A Bayahibe holiday offers more of an authentic Dominican experience than many other beach resorts. You can visit a working sugarcane mill or an artists' village, explore the archaeological museum and amphitheatre, hike in the East National Park, or take a tour to the capital Santo Domingo. There are also boat excursions to nearby islands including the uninhabited Isla Catalina, named by Christopher Columbus. The village shops are filled with local handicrafts, regional rum, cigars and amber products so you can take a little piece of the Dominican Republic home with you. The area's hotels offer activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling and water sports or you can simply relax in true Dominican style and watch the world go slowly by. With fabulous beaches, beautiful scenery and a wealth of attractions, a holiday in Bayahibe has it all.
