Santo Domingo Shopping Trip

Duration: Half Day

santo domingo shopping trip

If every time you’ve been on holiday you’ve wished that your shopping could all be done at once and with the less hassle possible…then this definitely is the tour for you! Our Santo Domingo shopping tour takes all the trouble of having to shop around endlessly and wasting valuable time that could otherwise be spent relaxing on a beach! We take all the mess out of shopping around and take you to all the best shopping places at once!

But before you fully indulge in this shopping extravaganza we will take you for a visit to the famous Amber Museum in Puerto Plata…so that some of your shopping can acquire deeper meaning after learning about the curiosities of this semi-precious gem before finally purchasing some amber jewellery and pretty handicrafts also made of this extraordinary stone. The Amber Museum was also the place that inspired the film Jurassic Park whilst also standing as a historical Victorian mansion, famous for the perfectioned beauty of its architecture.

Give yourself a little brush of history and culture at the Amber Museum and leave with your own little piece of Jurassic Park! After your tour around the museum you will have time for shopping in its art gallery before later heading towards the big shopping place where you will find the best of everything…the famously renowned “Calle El Conde”!

El Conde is a long street, resembling an old style French boulevard in tropical surroundings and with a lively Latin atmosphere. It stands out as the oldest and most traditional shop-flanked avenue with its many and varied shops and kiosks.

This commercial centre is every shopper’s dream with its quaint pedestrian pathways leading to a diverse variety of stores with everything from apparel and textile shops to shoe stores, restaurants, cafes, gift shops and jewellery stores. El Conde Street extends all the way from the Colón Park to the Independencia Park so you will find yourself among a little piece of history in the middle of Santo Domingo city. The street itself has received many different names over time with its current name honouring the Conde or Count of Peñalba who defeated the English in the 17th century.

So come along for a day of fabulous shopping against a multicolour cultural background! Don´t miss this opportunity to mix and mingle with the locals at the heart of Santo Domingo whilst shopping for the best of everything the Dominican has to offer! Our tour is truly the ideal way to shop with a dash of added historic learning, all perfectly combined into one wonderful excursion!
