carara national park Relatively small in size (only 4,700 hectares), the importance of Carara stems from its location in a transition area between the Tropical Dry Forest region tothe north and the Pacific Rainforest to the south. Carara thus has flora and fauna from both ecosystems, and the virgin forest that covers most of the reserve isthe ideal environment for such rare wildlife as the Scarlet Macaw (Ara macao), the Collared Aracari (Pteroglossus torquatos)and three species of monkeys. Length of tour: Full Day. What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes and clothes, hat, sun block, Binoculars, and camera.

KLM airline launches new direct flights to San Jose, Costa Rica

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct flight between Amsterdam and San Jose in Costa Rica. The airline will operate the flights twice a week throughout the winter season, and it will add a third service in January, 2018. The carrier hasn’t operated flights to Costa Rica since 1998, but decided to reintroduce the route due to high demand.

Andaz Costa Rica Resort Peninsula Papagayo acquired by Miami-based Gencom developer

The leading Miami-based hospitality and residential property firm, Gencom, has announced that the Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo has been acquired by one of its affiliates, Papagayo Partners Ltd. In a joint partnership with local real estate developer Sinergo Development Group S.A, it is the second acquisition for Gencom, following the purchase of the 1,400-acre Peninsula Papagayo and Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica last year.
