Overview

If you're after a long-haul paradise, Holidays to Barbados are an idyllic slice of beach heaven - and boast some of the best hotels in the Caribbean. From grand beachfront resorts to all inclusive hotels and family-friendly accommodations, Barbados holidays offer ultimate R&R. Boasting a mixture of tropical beaches, rugged plantations, lively resorts and colonial towns, this exotic destination is the perfect escape whether you want a faraway summer fling or a dose of winter sun.

Stir in a splash of rum punch, the sounds of reggae music, a cigar factory or two and you've got cool Caribbean vibes locked down. Beach lovers will be in for a treat when visiting the famous Platinum Coast, where sweeping blonde beaches are fringed by tall palm trees and calm turquoise waters. Go kayaking, windsurfing or hop on a catamaran cruise around this well-established holiday isle - one of the best ways to see the island in all its beauty. Barbados holidays have a wide variety of things to see and do, whether you want to explore the secluded caves in northern resort St Lucy, visit the iconic Mount Gay Rum Factory, or soak up the culture in the UNESCO-listed capital of Bridgetown for a glimpse of Bajan history.

Indulge in the local cuisine and join an open-air BBQ at Oistins Fish Fry, where you can sample some Bajan rum punch on the beach, or head to the party hotspot St Lawrence Gap, home to upbeat rum shacks and reggae bar. Swim with turtles, ride a jeep safari through forests and sugarcane fields, snorkel, scuba and live it up Barbados style – this Caribbean sun-soaked gem awaits.

Getting Around

There’s a bus service from Grantley Adams airport but its easiest to take a registered taxi or ask your hotel to arrange a car. All the major hotels are beachside, and as so much entertainment is hotel-based, most tourists don’t bother with car hire. Good tour operators sell day trips to key attractions, check with your hotel for a reputable firm and you can often get a special price.

The Bathsheba Beach

From the bright white expanses of soft, sugary sand on the west coast to the south coast's rugged, surf-friendly shores, the glorious beaches of Barbados do not disappoint! And the beach bars are pretty famous as well! Don’t forget to enjoy a rum punch with a good book while looking out over the crystal clear, turquoise waters. The main resorts in the west of the island have beautiful golden sandy bays to enjoy.

Watersports

The island of Barbados is a water-lover's paradise. Once you've skimmed the water on a windsurf or kite board, paddled along the coast in a kayak or hopped on a laugh-a-minute banana boat ride, why not relax on a catamaran cruise? From pirate ships to sail boats, these group day trips are great fun. Hop aboard and sail along the coast sipping a cocktail or two and enjoy a well-prepared lunch, snorkelling and lots of Caribbean flavour from the friendly crews. Sunbathe on the open decks and cool off in the glistening Caribbean Sea before soaking up the sunset. The larger boats can be great fun, with reggae music and a family friendly atmosphere.
