Virgin Atlantic launches first direct Barbados flights from Heathrow

New direct flights between London Heathrow and the Caribbean island of Barbados will commence for the first time this winter with Virgin Atlantic. Services to the popular holiday destination currently only fly from Gatwick airport.

Ground broken on multi-million dollar "Sandals Barbados Phase II" expansion project

Ground has been broken on the expansion of the Dover Beach project in Barbados by Sandals Resorts International. The construction of "Sandals Barbados Phase II" is scheduled to be completed by November, 2017, and will include the addition of 222 guest rooms and suites, seven new swimming pools, five restaurants, a spa and wellness sanctuary, and an entertainment centre.

Barbados recorded increase in tourist arrivals and visitor spending in 2016

The Caribbean Tourism Organisation has revealed that Barbados recorded a 6.7 per cent increase in international visitors in 2016, compared to 2015. The Barbados Statistical Service reported that the Caribbean island received 631,513 stay-over visitors between January and December last year, and there was an increase of arrivals every month of the year except for April.

Sandals Resorts to bring 222 new rooms and 900 jobs to Dover Beach, Barbados

Sandals Resorts International is planning to bring more rooms to Barbados as part of an expansion plan at the Sandals Barbados Dover Beach hotel on the south coast. The Caribbean hotel group will add 222 rooms to the property, bringing the total to 502, as well as new swimming pools and an entertainment pavilion with a main stage. The new additions will also bring 900 jobs to the local area.

Prince Harry to return to Barbados this autumn as part of official Caribbean tour

Prince Harry is set to return to the island of Barbados as part of a seven-leg Caribbean tour this autumn. The Royal will plan his trip in line with the 50th Anniversary of Independence for Barbados, and he will return to the tropical island where he danced calypso on stage during a charity concert and met dignitaries and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in January, 2010.

Elegant Hotels launches its 6th hotel in Barbados with opening of Waves Hotel and Spa

Elegant Hotels has announced the opening of its newest property in Barbados, the Waves Hotel and Spa, following a renovation project. Located on 1.8 acres of land on the west coast of Barbados, the luxury hotel has 70 guest rooms, as well as two swimming pools, a fitness centre, a spa with eight treatment rooms, two restaurants, a coffee shop and a bar.

Ground-breaking ceremony held for Sandals Barbados

Sandals Resort International has held an official ground-breaking ceremony at Sandals Barbados. The "Phase II" expansion of the Dover Beach property in Barbados is expected to be completed in November, 2017, and will include 222 new rooms, five new restaurants, a new spa and wellness sanctuary, three swimming pools, an entertainment pavilion with bowling alley, and conference facilities.

Discounts for bookings now on offer for new Waves Hotel and Spa in Barbados

Elegant Hotels has announced that it is now taking bookings for the brand new Waves Hotel and Spa in Barbados that is scheduled to open in July, 2016. The hotel group is offering 40 per cent discount on all-inclusive accommodation booked before 31st May, 2016, enabling guests to enjoy unlimited dining, water sports, Wi-Fi, and up to four pampering spa treatments.
