Peterson's Cay Tour - Bahamas Natural Beauty
Duration: Half Day
No holiday in the Bahamas would be complete without discovering the natural treasures beneath the Caribbean Sea. One of the best and most popular ways to explore this magical undersea world is by snorkeling, and there are many exciting sites to choose from. This memorable tour will take you to the secluded Peterson’s Cay, just a mile off the southern coast of Grand Bahama Island, where you can discover an abundance of wildlife both above and below the crystal clear warm waters.
Access to Peterson Cay is via boat only so plenty of tours are available by motorboat or catamaran on a daily basis, with lunch provided by the captain and crew. Alternatively, you can choose to take a kayaking nature tour, which is an adventure in itself and the best way to get close to the sea and island wildlife. Relax and enjoy the stunning Caribbean scenery as you leisurely paddle across the sparkling azure waters from Grand Bahama Island before approaching the palm-fringed, white sandy shores of Peterson Cay, the only cay on the leeward shores of Grand Bahama.
This tiny, remote limestone island is one of the smallest National Parks in the Bahamas, but it is home to a rich variety of animal and plant life. Rare birds inhabit this idyllic cay, as well as pelicans, herons and gulls, whilst under the water you will see an abundance of marine life hiding amongst the seaweed and unspoilt coral reefs. Hundreds of varieties of brightly-coloured tropical fish can be observed here, as well as sting rays, manta rays, eels, sea turtles, barracuda and vibrant coral species and sea fans. You may even be lucky enough to spot dolphins during your trip. Peterson’s Cay is blessed with one of the richest reef habitats in the Bahamas, which is why it is such a popular spot for snorkeling. The colours and diversity of the Caribbean’s seascapes will amaze you, so make sure you have an underwater camera handy to capture the Bahamas’ vibrant undersea beauty.
Afterwards, enjoy soaking up the sun on Peterson Cay’s pristine white sands as the sound of the warm tropical waters lapping the shores lulls you to sleep. This relaxing tour is a wonderful way to enjoy the natural treasures of the Bahamas in paradise surroundings.

Bob Marley might have been one of the most famous Jamaicans that ever lived but the Bahamas has also been a special part of his family’s life. The family had an eight-bedroom family home in a former governor’s mansion on the north side of the island, which has now been transformed into a luxury boutique resort and spa for holidaymakers by Bob Marley’s wife.
After closing for two months to make renovations following Hurricane Matthew, Grand Bahama’s Old Bahama Bay Resort and Yacht Harbour is scheduled to reopen on December 19. The resort suffered only slight damage in the hurricane, but used the down time to make refurbishments and to build a shopping deck that will feature local vendors.
