A favourite of families with children, this amazing excursion will take you to Antigua’s ‘Great Bird Island’ for a day of exploring the many species of birds and buoyant flora that thrive in this unique desert island environment.
To begin this fabulous tour we will be taking you on a wonderful catamaran cruise across Antigua´s sparkling turquoise waters as we head towards our deserted island destination. Enjoy the breathtaking views over the tranquil Caribbean Sea dotted with the many small islands that form part of this exceptional natural park known as Antigua´s North Sound National Park.
As we reach our destination at Great Bird Island you will soon discover why this is one of the best places to snorkel in Antigua. Thanks to this little island´s large concentration of mangroves which promote an amazingly rich marine life, your snorkeling experience here will struck you as something truly spectacular. You may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the majestic Hawksbill turtle that likes to roam freely in these warm waters. Otherwise you will be just as lucky if you manage to spot the voluptuous frigate bird with its red bag or the colorful redbill tropical bird. Incredible sights that will amaze the little ones and will be a delight for you to admire at as these beautiful birds soar past you in their gracious flight.
After your time snorkeling you will be proceeding to enjoy a sumptuous barbeque meal in true ´Robinson Crusoe´ style. This picnic style BBQ lunch will offer you with the best local Caribbean cuisine and you´ll be enjoying it in a spectacular desert island setting. Choose to sit on the low-lying tree limbs or on the white sands and be at one with the surroundings in this idyllic dining experience at one of nature´s most unspoilt settings.
We follow this up with an invigorating hike to the top of the island; an exhilarating experience that we are sure will be the highlight of your stay here! Once atop the highest point in Bird Island you´ll enjoy an incredible bird´s eye view of this magnificent Park of islets and the mainland of Antigua in the distance. Experience the unique thrill of looking straight down into a naturally formed blowhole. Look around and delight in the viewing of the many charming creatures that inhabit this magical place. From rare lizards, to brown pelicans and West Indian whistling ducks this area is home to many endangered creatures
And the deserted island dream will soon be drawing to an end…but only once someone finds the hidden treasure on our famous ´Treasure Hunt´. Yes, that´s right! You´ll be engaging in the fun activity of treasure hunting as you explore this deserted island and run though its bushy paths in search of that hidden treasure. Fun for children and adults alike, this activity will be the perfect touch to end the day’s wonderful surprises.
We then set sail again as the afternoon begins to set in the horizon. Once back aboard our catamaran get in the party mood as our boat fiesta provides full entertainment for everyone! Dance to the tunes of our sweet steel band rhythms and mingle with the crew during your way back to the hotel.
