Where to go in Egypt

Classic Egypt

Some of Egypt's most memorable experiences:

  • Enter the world's greatest open-air museum in the city of Luxor and walk through the Valley of the Kings, or tip-toe past Ramses II at the entrance to the mighty Temple of Luxor.
  • Let us guide you through the medieval streets of Cairo to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, where over 120,000 artefacts, including the golden mask of Tutankhamen, await you. Two of Egypt's most visited attractions - the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza – lie just outside the city of Cairo, a short 20 to 30-minute ride away from most hotels.
  • Visit the city of Aswan and sail along the Nile aboard a felucca (traditional sailing boat) or continue south to the astounding Abu Simbel temples.
  • Experience the ancient capital city of Alexandria on the Mediterranean coastline – home of the Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the original Seven Wonders of the World and the restored Ancient Library of Alexandria, a modern recreation of what once was the largest and most significant library of the ancient world.

To experience Egypt's ancient cities and historic landmarks, ask us to create a personalised itinerary for you. Choose to take a day out from your coastal resort and step back in time with a historical adventure, or try a multi-centre holiday allowing you to spend time on the beach as well as exploring legendary cities and temples.

For the most relaxing way to see it all, choose a cruise along the River Nile.

Egypt's Red Sea

We love and recommend:

  • Sharm el Sheikh where the coral reef reaches right to the shoreline. Expect spectacular scuba diving, stunning beaches, family-friendly facilities, and restaurants, bars and beach clubs galore.
  • The sophisticated and secluded beach resort of Taba Heights, which has its own marina and golf course.
  • The world-renowned beach clubs, family resorts and spectacular scuba diving at the trendy beach resort of Hurghada.
  • Visit the peaceful former fishing village of Marsa Alam and drink in the dramatic scenery where the Red Sea meets the desert.
  • The stunning scuba diving and windsurf hotspot of El Gouna, where the hotels are built on a series of interconnecting islands.

Egypt's best beach resorts fringe the Red Sea and the east coast of mainland Egypt. All of these are ideal for dedicated beach holidays, or make the perfect place to chill out after a Nile Cruise or a tour of Classic Egypt.
