Duration: Full Day
If you are looking for an exotic desert adventure during your holiday in Egypt, spend an evening riding camels across the sand dunes and experience authentic Bedouin lifestyle and culture at a traditional desert camp under the stars. This is an unforgettable tour not to be missed.
Your journey will begin at the camel station where you will pick up a camel and get ready to embark on a tranquil expedition across the awe-inspiring Sinai Desert as the sun goes down. The beauty of a desert sunset is a sight to behold. Known as a holy land, the Sinai Desert covers most of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, which is surrounded by the Gulf of Suez, the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea and the Israeli Negev desert. Ride over majestic sand dunes and past mountainous peaks, where many prophets, saints, conquerors, pilgrims and warriors have travelled before you. On the way, stop and soak up the silence of this vast, solitary wilderness, listening to nothing but nature and the stillness of the night.
After reaching an authentic Bedouin tent in the heart of the desert, you will receive a traditional warm welcome which has been extended to many a visitor throughout the centuries. Bedouins are desert-dwelling Arab nomads who know how to survive amidst the harsh desert conditions which vary between extreme heat and cutting winds. Bedouin camps can be found scattered throughout the desert along ancient routes, having traditionally provided food and shelter for herders travelling by camel from oasis to oasis. Immerse yourself in the local
Bedouin culture and get to know your friendly hosts as they share their knowledge of the desert and their lifestyle. As guests of the generous and hospitable Bedouin people, take a welcoming rest here whilst you sit around the campfire talking, drinking and eating. Enjoy a special blend of hot, sweet Bedouin tea with herbs, smoke a traditional water pipe; chat with your fellow travellers and hosts, and enjoy a delicious rustic meal amidst traditional Arabic surroundings. Afterwards, relax into the night under a beautiful, clear, starry sky. Travellers are advised to bring a jumper as the evening can get very cold in the desert.
This enriching experience is a fascinating introduction to the Bedouin lifestyle and a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the ancient beauty, mystery and spirit of the desert.
