Duration: Half Day
Blessed with crystal clear blue waters, pristine coral reefs and some of the most beautiful beaches in Egypt, Marsa Alam is a tropical paradise and, not surprisingly, one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Red Sea Riviera. It is also known as the gateway to some of the most spectacular dive sites in the southern Red Sea. This tour will introduce you to the unspoilt reefs and abundant marine life of Marsa Shouni Kebir, one of the most picturesque dive sites in the area.
Occupying part of the Great Rift Valley, the warm, crystal clear waters of the Red Sea are famous for hosting an incredibly diverse and beautiful undersea world. If you dream of discovering the natural treasures of the ocean during your holiday in Egypt, Marsa Alam is this is the perfect starting place.
With over 20 dive sites dotted around a 100k stretch of coastline, this beautiful holiday resort offers a range of exciting underwater adventures for divers of all levels of experience. Shallow lagoons, vibrant coral gardens, an abundance of sea life and good visibility are just some of the reasons why diving enthusiasts come here from all over the world. Some of the most picturesque dive sites in the area can be found at Marsa Shouni Kebir, known as the "Large Bay of the Market".
Aside from its beauty reefs, this area is most famous for its huge variety of rays, which reside amongst the sandy ocean floor and vast beds of sea grass. Eagle, feather-tail, grey, thorny, leopard and manta rays are all regularly spotted at this site, alongside moray eels and hundreds of fish species such as barracuda, groupers, golden trevallies and brightly-coloured tropical fish.
This is also a great place to spot turtles, which are abundant here, and you may even get the chance to meet "George", the resident giant green sea turtle who can often be seen sleeping in the same spot on the South Reef most mornings. The beauty and diversity of this majestic underwater world will take your breath way.
To make the most out of your diving trip, plenty of PADI certified scuba diving courses are available in Marsa Alam. Whether you are an expert diver or a beginner, diving in the Red Sea is a magical experience not to be missed.
