Speechless thanks to Antigua's beauty

Antigua is one of those beautiful places where words fail to express its pristine glory in all its magnitude. Small it may be but it certainly packs a wealth of stunning landscapes and seascapes dotted all around its lush topography. On my recent trip to this spectacular island I got to appreciate its postcard-perfect beaches with miles of secluded pink sands, its dramatic hill formations where verdant hues meet the purest of blue skies, its fresh and tasty cuisine and the warmth of its friendly locals - all while staying at top-notch accommodation. Glance through my photographs to see for yourself why this is one of those magical places on earth that will leave you lost for words.

Chasing the last snow

With the clocks having gone forward, the skiing season is well and truly over. Although the flowers are struggling to come out now, I can still remember last week's ski trip to Austria. The Austrian Alps provide great snow, but at this late time of year it's best to hit the slopes early to get the freshest conditions; any sleepyheads will face lots of slush in the afternoon. As a keen skier I've enjoyed the famous French slopes of Les Trois Vallees (Val Thorens, Meribel, Courchevel) in the past, however, I've recently come to appreciate the smaller, family friendly resort of Lofer in Austria, not far from the city of Salzburg.

Havana Carnival - a dazzling display of colour, lights and music

Even when the Havana Carnival took place a couple of months ago, from 8 - 17th August 2014, now that the winter looks pretty much settled in the UK, I've been inspired by a set of stunning photographs sent over to me by a local friend that resides in Cuba's vibrant capital. The sizzling Havana Carnival 2014 was a spectacle for the senses, an irresistible burst of colour, music and dancing that I hope to one day witness for myself. In the meantime, join me in perusing this outstanding collection of photos that pretty much speak for themselves.

St Lucia - Simply Beautiful

A land I have yet to explore and which presents itself as the most seductive of Caribbean escapes, St Lucia may have proved elusive so far on my travels to this blessed region of the planet, but I still find myself dreaming of it and quietly planning what I would see and do there, the many photo ops I would encounter and the many angles from which to shoot its undeniable simple beauty. But before I do, let me share with you the photos that have made me dream about the possibilities of even more photos - my own. Browse through my hand-picked gallery of what I believe makes St Lucia a simply too beautiful place to overlook and a must for any Caribbean lover or nature enthusiast.

Packed full of surprises - a thorough Barbadian immersion

The image Barbados concocts in most people's minds is that of postcard-like endless beaches and cute little Caribbean towns, and whilst these pictures indeed reflect the beauty and charm of this island, they by no means are a complete representation of all it has to offer. My colleague Gosia, at The Holiday Place wanted to see the whole picture. This is why during Gosia's second Barbados visit she endeavoured to dig a little deeper into real and authentic Barbadian culture, get to know the rural parts of the island and move around the country to see different sights and experience more unique adventures. So, on she went and packed her itinerary full of different cities, regions, landscapes and, of course, different hotels along the way to get to see sides of Barbados she hadn't before. Browse through her personal photoblog below to see just what she encountered on her enriching journey.

Maldives - the sunny side of life

For a long time now I've been wishing to visit Maldives. The natural beauty, tranquility, peace, sun and pure sea - the perfect escape in every sense. Every year when planning the main holiday and looking around for some inspiration I catch myself glancing over the blue pages of Maldives magazines and websites. Every year I end up going somewhere else. Partially because its rival beach destination; the Caribbean, may often work out more affordable and partially, because I'm not the only decision maker in the holiday planning process and Maldives gets repeatedly dismissed by comments like "there's not much to do besides the beach". But going through many photo shots recently, I'd say I am well armed for the next year's holiday discussions. Snorkeling, diving, various watersports, excursions, island hopping, seaplane flights, spa and other experiences - you can do it all, as much or as little as you like, or just relax and unwind. Well, for me that would do just fine.

The Dominican Republic truly has it all

Beyond the pale crescents of sun-kissed sand that trace the land's curves, the Dominican Republic has something to satisfy all types of traveller. Its history-rich capital, Santo Domingo, is the oldest colonial city in the Americas, the place where Columbus first landed, and chock-full of interesting sights. The country's interior is blessed with lush tropical tracts, cool rushing waterfalls and exotic wildlife. Island culture is just as unique and colourful - a fascinating mix of indigenous Taino Indian and more modern Spanish and European influences. And that's not all - there's an exciting array of activities to enjoy in the country too, from world-class golf courses and horse trekking to whale-watching and other aquatic pursuits - scuba diving, kit-surfing and white-water rafting to name just a few. Scan our selection of stunning photos for a snapshot of all this enchanting island nation has to offer.

Cuba's wild side - the natural riches of its eastern half

It's not the first time my colleague Sergio travels to Cuba, but this time I was surprised by a few new things he hadn't tried on his previous trips and which were truly awe-inspiring. The lush nature is mesmerising to say the least and the wild, off-the-beaten-path places he visited were truly stunning, so I couldn't help but share with you some of these amazing sites through the many photographs he brought back.
