The bus network is good in Abu Dhabi. The main station can be found on Hazaa Bin Zayed Road, and from here, you can travel around the city, to Dubai, and beyond. Ladies sit in the front, men at the back.
To hire a car, an international driving license is recommended, which can be attained from the AA or RAC. Petrol is cheap and roads are excellent. Use a GPS system, and drive on the right hand side.
Abu Dhabi has enough cultural highlights to keep you busy for days.
Take a tour of the beautifully intricate Sheikh Zayed Mosque (the largest of its kind in the UAE).
Visit the Heritage Village where you can see replica buildings, traditional wooden boats and pretty handicrafts.
Also worth a view is the Qasr Al-Hosn fortress which has stood protecting the emirate for hundreds of years.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is sure to give you an adrenaline rush.
With its fastest in the world roller coaster Formula Rossa and some spectacular, hair-raising rides, this is a great place to take the kids for a day out.
There are also live shows, go-karting and shops selling racing memorabilia.
