Whilst Kandy is the cultural and Sinhalese capital of Sri Lanka, it is much easier to navigate than Colombo. It is possible to travel to Kandy by train, but the most common and most comfortable way is to travel by private vehicle. Kandy is actually the perfect size to be explored by foot, the higher altitude making it conducive to long and leisurely strolls.
