Getting Around

Much of Playa del Carmen is walkable, especially as a lot of the resort is centred around 5th Avenue, which is completely pedestrianised. If you’re hoping to explore beyond the resort though, hiring a car can be a great way to do that, but taxis are also on hand if you prefer someone else to do the driving. There is also an excellent ferry service that can take you to Cozumel, and there are bicycle paths if you wish to cycle.

Just 5 minutes away from Playa del Carmen centre is the highly acclaimed Xcaret ecopark. Pronounced ‘eesh-caret’, it's home to a bucket list full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including exciting snorkelling and cave exploration. However, if you want a really magical memory, floating along the underground river is a must!

The Blue Parrot Beach Club in Playa del Carmen is famed as a favourite party destination, and for good reason. This bar buzzes with tourists and locals alike as soon as the sun sets and it's a great place to unwind, sip on cocktails and let your hair down as you listen to toe-tapping eclectic music. If you're feeling peckish, grab one of the delicious dishes on the menu including fresh seafood, ceviches and tacos. It's thrilling fire show is sure to heat things up a little, too!
