Hurghada Holidays

Overview

As the capital of the Red Sea Riviera, holidays to Hurghada are a must if you want a combination of beach and culture. Its time as a fishing village has long gone and it's now split into three parts – Ad Dahar, New Hurghada and Sigala. From world-class diving sites and stunning white mosques to the lively nightlife, cuisine, shopping and golden beaches, Hurghada holidays offer amazing entertainment within a pretty Egyptian resort.

Fly from Hurghada to Cairo, located about 400 km or four to five hours by car and two hours by flight, to visit the Great Pyramids in the Giza Plateau, along with the legendary Sphinx. You can also make a day trip to Luxor to visit the Valley of Kings, about three hours’ drive from Hurghada. While here, you can also enjoy a felucca or sailboat ride along the river Nile.

Whether you want to soak up the Riviera sunshine on its luxury 40 km of coastline or dive down to its dazzling underwater coral gardens, Hurghada has plenty to explore.

Getting Around

Taxis are a popular choice but agree on a fare before you travel as there are no meters. You'll also find microbuses whizzing from one part of the city to another. Walking is a great way of seeing the area, but take precautions to protect yourself from the strong sun. There is also a water taxi available in Hurghada Marina.

Best Beaches

Hurghada is a paradise for beach lovers. Whether you're seeking a relaxing day in the sun or an adventurous snorkelling experience, Hurghada's beaches have something for everyone.

Known for its wide and clean sandy expanse, Old Vic Beach is a popular public bay in Hurghada. While you won't find luxurious facilities, the beach offers plenty of space for kids to run around and enjoy the soft, golden sand. It's a great spot to unwind and soak up the coastal beauty.

Get ready for an active day on Buzzha Beach in El Gouna. This beach is a haven for kitesurfers who flock to its gentle waves. Onshore, you'll find beach volleyball and a kids' playground, ensuring a fun-filled experience for the whole family.

Indulge in beachfront luxury at The Oberoi in Sahl Hasheesh. The narrow sandy beach offers a tranquil retreat with well-spaced parasols and hammocks under the swaying palms. It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a serene beach experience.

Snorkelling Beaches

Hurghada is perhaps the hottest destination in Egypt for diving into the Red Sea, where you'll encounter stunning coral reefs and colourful fish.

Embark on a snorkeling adventure from Kempinski's beach, nestled in the sheltered waters of Soma Bay. Explore several kilometers of coral reefs and keep an eye out for majestic napoleon fish and graceful eagle rays.

Just a short boat ride from Hurghada, Mahmya Beach on Giftun Island is a snorkeler's paradise. Wade into the crystal-clear waters directly from the shore or take a plunge from offshore moorings. Prepare to be enchanted by the stunning underwater world.

Offering more than just swimming, the house reef at Stella Di Mare Makadi Beach Resort & Spa is a snorkeler's dream. Immerse yourself in the vibrant marine ecosystem and encounter colourful corals and fascinating sea creatures.
